How to Get a Credit Card Even with Bad Credit

Credit cards are very important today. They are used in almost every financial transaction that everyone must at least have one. However, you’ll need a good credit standing to get approved for a credit card. So if you fear you have bad credit history, don’t lose hope. There are still ways you can get a credit card despite your bad credit.

Apply for a secured credit card.

If you have a bad credit, credit issuers will be doubtful of your ability to pay. So depending on your credit rating, you’ll either get denied a credit card or be approved for a secured credit card. A secured credit card is intended for people with bad credit. It works like an ordinary credit card only you’ll need to deposit a security amount. This deposit will serve as your credit limit and is what you’ll use up whenever you charge things to your card. When the funds run out, you simply reload it.

A secure credit card is reported to the credit bureaus. Therefore since you don’t get late on payments or max out the card, you’ll most likely have a good credit score. Soon your score will be enough again to pass for a regular credit card.

Get an unsecured credit card.

An unsecured credit card is another type of plastic for people with bad credit that works without the security deposit. You get a credit limit, a bill every month, and the interest rates. However, this type of card is not without consequences. The credit limit of these cards is typically lower and the interest rates higher. If you can’t manage it well, you’ll likely end up in a terrible debt. However, unless you have fixed your credit score, this type of card will do for the time being.

If you pay on time and use your credit cards wisely, it shouldn’t be that hard to get back on track again. Once you do, you can now apply for a regular credit card.

Fix your score first.

If you can’t do with these two bad credit credit cards, then fix your credit score until it looks good once again. Pay all your dues on time and pay them in full, make sure to be wise on money this time, and avoid unnecessary purchases. Make a budget for yourself to do this. If you can, pay with cash for the mean time. When your bad credit heals, immediately apply for a regular credit card.
